A Grand Day Out
October 29, 2014On Tuesday 21st October IPF arranged a day out at Eltham Palace and gardens. Although the weather was a little mixed, there were enough sunny spells for us to enjoy the gardens and water features. The interior has Art Deco furnishings, and the building, which dates from the 14th century, has a magnificent hammer beam roofed hall. The Tea Room provided refreshments at reasonable price. The transport was a Routemaster bus. It is strikingly painted on the outside, renovated 50s style on the inside and performed well. It was generously provided by the Kindness Offensive, who have a bookshop on the corner of Dalmeny Avenue, 273 Camden Road. Their company on the trip was most welcoming. Their lovely free bookshop, yes it is actually free, you can take a book away with you, is normally open weekdays, and Saturdays 12 noon to 5pm, but please ring to check: 7607 6592.
Our outing was also featured on Islington Now with some more photos.
